Dear Friends and Family,
In January I decided to read the bible in chronological order. It has reminded me once again of how many laws that Israel had to obey and how free we are because of the blood that was shed for us by Jesus on the Cross of Calvary. His Grace is sufficient. There are laws that were carried over from the old to the new. Deuteronomy 6:5-9 in The Message Bible says, “ Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that’s in you, love him with all you’ve got! write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.” In the New Testament the word says in John 15:12 “I’ve told you these things for a purpose: that my joy might be your joy, and your joy wholly mature. This is my command: Love one another the way I loved you. This is the very best way to love. Put your life on the line for your friends. You are my friends when you do the things I command you. I’m no longer calling you servants because servants don’t understand what their master is thinking and planning. No, I’ve named you friends because I’ve let you in on everything I’ve heard from the Father.”
Sometimes when I’m feeding the Homeless or witnessing on the streets of Mardi Gras or helping in a prayer tent at Biker Functions, I’ve realized how hard it is to love the unlovable. They smell, they curse, they drink and drug, they dress inappropriately. They certainly don’t fit into my world. That’s why I go to them. God continues to remind me, I must love, no mater who or how they are.
MINISTRY REPORT
On Sundays mornings Victory Fellowship has a ministry headed by Butch Savage. Busses go into the city to pick up the homeless for service and than there fed lunch. In December before Christmas my granddaughter, Becca and I brought gifts to give to the homeless that came to Victory.
In February on the streets of Mardi Gras we had a team from Missouri. Don and Etta Lutz were so gracious to house us. This year the craziness seemed to start earlier. The crowds were larger so everything was heightened . Where sin abounds, God’s Grace abounds much more. So many people were drawn to the Love of Christ. We were able to pray with many and some gave there hearts to the Lord. Many good seeds were planted.
At the end of February I went with my precious friend Jane Kent and her grandson to the Ozanam Inn on Camp St. in down town New Orleans to help feed the homeless and give out socks and toiletries ( shampoo, tooth brushes, toothpaste, soap, combs ). I put it all in a bag with a Jesus track so it’s easy for them to carry or put in there pocket. All of them are given the blessings of God and sometimes we get to pray with them.
I just got back from Bike Week in Daytona Beach, Fl. with my friend Pastor Frank Gresham. Every year we have a prayer tent set up in a open air biker bar. We’re right in the middle of all of the action. We give away bibles, books, posters but best of all, we pray for so many people. This year one of the bikers that work with us, Ponch, with Walls of Jericho, bought water melons. We blessed everyone in the bar with a slice. Jesus is good. He came for the sinner. We’re now doing 5 biker events a year.
I’m still at Mary Song Restoration Center every Thursday to counsel with the ladies and I’ll be giving gifts to the homeless for Easter at Victory April 1st. April 4th I’ll be leaving for Uganda with Pastor Frank Gresham and Winniefer Farrell to work with Missionary Aurora Castillo. A big thank you to everyone who supports the ministry. Please keep us in your prayers.
Many Blessings and Much Love to You and Yours,
Nancy
